  • Lower Merion Township has long envisioned a new multimodal Ardmore Transit Center with a parking garage and surrounding transit-oriented development; lack of funding has been an obstacle.
  • SEPTA is currently leading station improvements in a two-phased approach.
  • Phase 1:
    -- New station building.
-- New 500-foot-long high- and low-level platforms with canopies.
-- ADA access across tracks via renovated tunnel and new elevators.
  • Phase 2:
-- Development of a 500-space parking garage on the existing SEPTA and municipal parking lots, with bus access and commercial space on the lower level (pending funding).
  • Station design is complete. Amtrak must complete overhead catenary work before station construction can begin.
  • Once station and platform construction begin (anticipated 2018 contingent upon available resources), Phase I completion is expected within three years.
