Proposed Site Plan, July 2013

The Mount Joy Station is well-used but had long been little more than a “bus stop” along the Keystone Corridor, with a small, basic shelter on each side of the tracks. The need for station enhancements coincided with revitalization efforts in downtown Mount Joy, just one block away. PennDOT and Amtrak collaborated with “Main Street Mount Joy,” a non-profit devoted to promoting a vibrant downtown, through the multi-year process of visioning, conceptual development, design, and construction.

– Feasibility study for relocating station conducted
– Funding secured to develop the station
– Funding from MPO for initial design
– Conceptual site plan developed
– Public meeting to present concept plans and receive public comment
– Amtrak agreement to current location
– Main Street Mount Joy focus group meetings and community meetings
– PennDOT/federal funding secured to design and build station
– Phase I (streetscaping and parking) completed
– Groundbreaking for Phase II, station platforms and access
